The Royal Memorial Chapel Sandhurst

The Royal Memorial Chapel Sandhurst, dedicated as Christ Church, is held in special affection by many who trained at the Royal Military College, latterly the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.  The Chapel exists because the Academy exists; its primary focus is the spiritual well-being of the student body and those who serve them by training them.

Officer cadets appreciate their time in the Chapel as an oasis of calm in their busy lives.  It is somewhere that belongs to them and when they are commissioned they may return again for milestone events in their lives such as a wedding or the baptism of a child.

Part of the appeal of the Chapel is the music and the congregation much appreciate the hard work put in by the Organist and Director of Music and the members of the choir.

The Guild of St Helena, that is an integral part of so many Army churches and chapels, enjoys good support at its regular meetings.  The branch is outward looking and is always eager to assist in the life of the congregation.

Likewise the fairly frequent use of the building by our Roman Catholic friends, when their own chapel proves too small, has helped to bond the two congregations and a number of services during the year are held jointly.

Because of the Chapel's many unique qualities and because of a wide range of associations and affiliations, a much wider band of worshippers exist whose bond is their love and commitment to the ministry of the Chapel.  In recognition, the Friends of the Royal Memorial Chapel Sandhurst was established some years ago and has flourished ever since (see separate pages).

This website exists to inform and to encourage all aspects of the communal spiritual life of the two Academy Chapels.
